SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER (Water/Wastewater Utility)

Loudoun Water has an immediate opening for a Senior Environmental Engineer in its Planning and Water Resources department. The Water Resources program is instrumental in planning and managing our water resource assets in a sustainable manner to serve our customers’ needs. The Senior Environmental Engineer will be responsible for working collaboratively to advance key water resources initiatives. Essential functions include the following: • Lead key water resources initiatives, including department studies and other technical and policy-oriented initiatives. • Provide technical support to water operations and other departments in implementing improvements associated with water resources planning studies. • Advance Loudoun Water’s relationship with external organizations in support of key water resource initiatives. • Represent Loudoun Water in interactions with stakeholders and in official meetings. • Develop and actively manage scopes, budgets, and schedules for projects in the best interest of Loudoun Water. • Lead stakeholder efforts to resolve project issues, build consensus, agree on project decisions, and resolve project challenges. • Keep internal stakeholders informed through oral and written presentations to project teams, senior staff, executive management, and the Board of Directors. • Work collaboratively across multiple disciplines and departments to develop comprehensive strategies. • Coordinate with state, local, and regulatory agencies and advise on applications for permits and project approvals. Requirements: BS degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience, including familiarity with hydraulic engineering and civil engineering design principles, management experience related to water and wastewater facilities and infrastructure and gaining stakeholder consensus to achieve project goals. An advanced degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field may be applied towards the experience requirements. Registration as a Professional Engineer in Virginia is desirable.
