About The Bishop’s School 

Founded in 1909 and affiliated with the Episcopal Church, The Bishop’s School is an independent, all gender college-preparatory school for 800 students in grades six through twelve located on a historic campus in the heart of La Jolla, just 10 miles north of downtown San Diego. With a student-teacher ratio of approximately 9 to 1, Bishop’s is known for academic, artistic, and athletic excellence while celebrating character development, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Annualized Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000

Position Summary Description

Responsible for strategic support of the marketing communications program, including efforts to convey the mission and brand of the School to various constituencies comprising alumni, faculty, staff, parents, students and the public. This includes print, website and social media content production and assisting social media efforts of campus groups, classes and organizations. Assist with School event photography and video. This position supports all campus departments and initiatives by producing creative and unique print and digital content that authentically reflects the institutional brand and message and positions Bishop’s at the forefront in our local market.

 

Essential Functions and Specific Duties  

  • Conceptualize, design, write and edit content for print, website and digital media.
  • Create and share visual content (text, images, video, etc.) across all of Bishop’s online platforms to engage with different audiences.
  • Shoot, edit and produce video content of various lengths for online marketing channels such as Vimeo, Instagram, Facebook and Bishop’s website.
  • Take photos and videos at School events.
  • Lead the School’s social media efforts and help oversee the use of social media by other campus groups, including training student groups on social media best practices.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of communication tools through market research, data collection and analysis.
  • Measure performance of the School’s website by using web analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
  • Ensure best practices and quality standards are upheld in web communications including techniques, content and format, branding and verbal identity, both within the marketing and communications office and throughout the School.
  • Assist in planning and executing School events on behalf of the marketing department.
 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 3-5 years of successful experience in marketing and communications, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting. 
  • Significant experience with web content development and management, digital media, video shooting and editing
  • Working knowledge of Adobe software, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, AfterEffects, as well as video editing software such as Final Cut Pro
  • Working knowledge of AP Style
  • Proven experience writing for the web;
  • Competent with various forms of digital media;
  • Proven photography, video and related editing skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize to complete multiple projects within required timelines;
  • Ability to balance independent work and collaborative efforts;
  • Outstanding attentiveness to detail and quality;
  • Flexibility with the special needs associated with an academic environment and schedule;
