Community Lending Specialist will help the bank connect with under-served communities within the bank’s footprint, focusing on lower income and minority communities. The Community Lending Specialist will market, source, and originate Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) eligible and general residential mortgage loans to these communities.

Essential Functions/Duties (A few accountabilities that cover the tasks, duties and responsibilities that are most important to get the job done, listed in priority order. Describe what must be accomplished including supervision or management responsibilities and quality and quantity standards.):

  2. This position requires the employee to possess a positive attitude and willingness to learn, while providing superior client services to all members of LINKBANK.
  3. Works with the CRA Office, Manager of Mortgage Lending, Operations and Marketing to develop and execute a business plan to include outreach, sales and events with realtors, builders, affordable housing providers, nonprofits, and community organizations.
  4. Source and originate residential mortgage loans with an emphasis on Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) eligible loans to meet the needs of the low to moderate income borrower, minority borrowers and first-time homebuyer resulting in a long-term relationship between the bank and the clients after the loan closes.
  5. Maintain a working knowledge of all available mortgage products available to provide to customers and prospects such as Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, etc..
  6. Host and attend home buyer education seminars to raise awareness of affordable lending programs.
  7. Organize credit counseling, financial literacy, and other related education programs
  8. Keep open line of communication with agents, borrower, processors, and closers to provide excellent customer service.
  9. Develop individual marketing plans to expand market share and stimulate loan production.
  10. Maintain regular contact with professional and community organizations to ensure a positive company image.
  11. Maintain regular contact with Realtors and Housing Authorities in their offices and on site at open houses and at first time homebuyer seminars and events.
  12. Participate in Community Reinvestment Act events, meetings and forums.
  13. Cross promote other services and financial products of the bank to outside referral sources.
  14. Trained to structure loans to ensure compliance to bank policy and product guidelines.
  15. Gather all information necessary for documentation, analysis, disclosure and underwriting loan applications.
  16. Maintain a strong compliance culture within assigned sphere of responsibilities.
  17. Exemplify our customer service philosophy by providing exceptional service to customers (internal and external) and to third party vendors.
  18. Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities with clear direction from supervisor.
  • Attention to detail, problem solving and the ability to be proactive.
  • Must partner with management team to ensure effective compliance to Bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Skilled in engaging vendor and client relationships.
  • Strong computer knowledge and Windows skills required.
  • Involvement in community groups/events and strong networking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to strategically plan to establish and maintain relationships with key individuals and organizations with the goal of originating mortgages.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to function efficiently and effective under deadlines and stress while maintain a professional and mature profile.

Experience:

Preferred experience in customer service, sales, marketing or community outreach. Banking experience is a plus.

Required Certification/Licenses: NMLS registration


Travel Requirements: Ability to travel to all locations within the bank’s footprint and to meetings with clients.


Physical and Mental Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to verbally communicate instructions and information clearly, concisely, and accurately to our clients and other employees.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend sometimes complex schedules, and details to process correspondence accurately, while providing exceptional client service.
  • Manual dexterity for the functional operation of office equipment, computer terminal, and other office equipment.
  • Must have visual acuity required to work at a computer terminal.
  • Mobility enough to coordinate activities in department and lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
  • Must be able to function at a high level in a fast paced and sometimes stressful work environment.
