Early Childhood Teacher

The Katherine Thomas School services students with language, learning, and sensory motor disabilities and moderate to high functioning autism. We have an open position for an early childhood special education teacher. Full Time 11-month position, working hours: 8:30am-4:15pm M-F. EOE

Responsibilities of the teacher include:

• Develop instruction following the Maryland State Curriculum providing necessary accommodation to meet individual, group, and program needs
• Meet the individual's student's needs by analyzing the student's developmental profile
• Write and implement IEPs
• Create a supportive learning environment
• Create partnerships with parents and the school community
• Supervise teacher assistants and work collaboratively with team members
• Utilize technology and/or AAC devices to assist students in accessing curriculum and communication

Requirements of the teacher:

• Bachelors Degree in Special Education (Required)
• Maryland Special Education Teaching Certificate in early childhood-K-3rd (Required)
• Experience with students on the Autism spectrum preferred

As a condition of employment, all new hires are required to have received at least the first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. New hires must receive any additional vaccine doses in the appropriate timeframes to be considered fully vaccinated and submit weekly test results until they are fully vaccinated. Requests for religious or medical exemptions will be reviewed and evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

A competitive annual salary between $49k to low $80k, DOE, plus a benefits package that includes health, dental, retirement, vacation, sick, holiday pay and educational opportunities is provided for the Teacher.
