The Athletic Director is responsible for the overall administration of the department, with an emphasis on compliance, program visibility, and event supervision.  You have an unwavering belief in our students’ capabilities, and as a result, you do whatever it takes to support their growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The quality of our school cannot exceed the quality of our employees. In that spirit, we are seeking exceptional individuals to execute the following “essential job duties” and responsibilities:


With students, you:

  • Deliver excellent student supervision consistent with the age and abilities of students
  • Set and hold high expectations for academics and behavior
  • Develop trusting, authentic relationships with students and their families 
  • Create and maintain a joyful, safe, structured, and team-oriented environment
  • Encourage students to take risks and learn from their mistakes
  • Create opportunities for students to leverage the power of their voice 


Whole School Responsibilities:

  • Encourage students to take risks and learn from their mistakes
  • Create opportunities for students to leverage the power of their voice 
  • Monitor academic eligibility quarterly and cumulatively
  • Define, monitor, and evaluate behavioral eligibility, in coordination with the Dean of Students and Director of Student Supports
  • Collect compliance paperwork including medical physicals
  • Participate in athletic league meetings to ensure compliance with league regulations
  • Support the coordination of transportation to games and off-site practices
  • Oversee practice and game day operations 
  • Supervise home games during the school year
  • Ensure the safety (physical and emotional) of all students at practice and games
  • Coordinate logistics for athletic department events as assigned, including informational events and end-of-season celebrations
  • Maintain an athletic calendar for practices, contests, and athletic functions and communicate with stakeholders
  • Define clear roles and responsibilities for coaches
  • Interview, select, and support sports coaches during their sports’ seasons
  • Organize and maintain equipment inventory for assigned teams, including uniforms
  • Model and teach our core values: purpose, perseverance, productivity, growth mindset, integrity, leadership, joy, gratitude, mindfulness, and kindness
  • Give and receive feedback to improve your practice, that of your peers, and school leaders, and create and maintain open, honest, and respectful lines of communication

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Earned Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Previous experience working effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse groups.
  • Successful experience in areas of conflict resolution.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking skills and the ability to apply deductive reasoning and draw conclusions in order to solve problems and facilitate decision-making processes
  • Ability to continuously seek quality service and process improvements in order to support our mission and strategic vision. 


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in physical education; Masters degree in athletic administration or equivalent training and experience preferred.
  • Five years of experience as a physical education instructor and athletic coach.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is on-site. The employee must have sufficient mobility to report to campus, work in a classroom, and engage with students, with or without reasonable accommodations. The employee may be required to do light lifting, pushing/pulling, and bending, with or without accommodations. The employee must possess the ability to communicate with students, parents, and colleagues, with or without reasonable accommodations.
