Position Summary:
The Meal Relief Registered Nurse servicing the Medical/Surgical units, as a professional practitioner, assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care while he/she is relieving other licensed nurses during break/meal periods. According to the established standards of nursing practice and standards of care, he/she demonstrates an ability to make clinical nursing judgement in an efficient and effective manner. He/She demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care and consistently performs according to the standards of the profession. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of skilled, high quality patient care; for assisting in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating nursing practice and collaborating with members of the healthcare team.
 
Reports To: Director Patient Care Services
Supervises: None

Position Requirements:
Licensure/ Certification/ Registration:
  • Valid California RN license.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • National RN Certification preferred.
Education:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience:
  • Minimum of one-year acute care hospital experience in area of specialty.
Special Qualifications:
  • Computer knowledge.
  • Competencies reflected by valid California RN license and validated during preceptor/orientation process.
