The Role

The Lead Engineer position will require both technical expertise and project management competency. This position will be the focal point for government site implementations, from initial site surveys to final quality control checks at project completion. The Lead Engineer will work directly with site contacts, subcontractors, Government POCs, and internal team members to provide ISP designs and ensure successful network integration.

The Main Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the oversight of site implementation to include site surveys, design, permitting, construction, cabinet installation, and any other associated tasks at assigned sites in the network.
  • Formulate BOEs for assigned projects and proposals as necessary.
  • Consult with program personnel, customer contacts, subcontractors, suppliers, and personnel in other departments to develop SOWs, BOMs, and EDPs.
  • Coordinate VARs for all personnel working at assigned sites.
  • Address site issues as they occur and report resolution to management and the government customer in a timely manner.
  • Conduct site surveys at assigned sites and be thePOC for all subcontractors and customer coordination.
  • Assist project managers with master schedule input for site tasks.
  • Considers materials, labor, equipment, tools, and transportation for cost estimations.
  • Analyze drawings and other documentation to prepare SOWs, BOMs, EDPs.
  • Confer with management, engineers, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to documentation.
  • Learn the COMSEC procedures for individual assigned sites. Assist FSO with COMSEC training of Field Operations personnel assigned to the sites as needed.
  • Helps determine necessary resources for projects based on SOW content and scheduling.
  • Familiar with standards, practices, and procedures related to Telecom ISP and OSP installations.
  • Plan and coordinate the scope and tasks to be accomplished for all site visits with program personnel, customer representatives and vendor personnel.
  • Compile detailed notes and EDP diagrams for all phases of work to be performed.
  • Coordinate floor plans drawings and cable diagrams.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager or Program Director.
  • Multitask multiple site projects at any given time.
What We Look For in a Candidate
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Requires technical knowledge of Telecom ISP design and installation with the ability to use material and infrastructure estimating methods. The same knowledge and abilities relative to OSP design and construction are desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • BICSI RCDD Certification is preferred, but not required at time of hire.
  • PMP Certification a plus, but not required.
  • Must have a current valid driver's license.
  • Requires current TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50%.
Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$94420 - $118028 in these states: LA and MS.
$99390 - $124230 in these states: AL, FL, IN, MO, NM, OH, PA, and WY.
$104360 - $130448 in these states: CO.
$109330 - $136665 in these states: CA, DC, TX, and VA.

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
