The Senior Manager role sits within the Cyber Governance and Risk (G&R) organization supporting our enterprise Cyber Assessment Maturity Program (CAMP). The Senior Manager will provide technical subject-matter expertise to a team of analysts that support enterprise maturity, large annual regulatory, and lines of business (LOB) assessments. The Senior Manager will also help our team to compile operational information and produce in depth analysis to support Capital Ones cybersecurity strategy. This role is ideal for candidates interested in leveraging their technical skillset to broaden their impact through cybersecurity program management, governance, and risk management activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages a team of analysts that perform assessments of cybersecurity capabilities and determine maturity scores and effectiveness of capability implementation using the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) across the enterprise
  • Serves as a technical resource to advise on risks as it pertains to Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tools, security monitoring, identity and access management implementation, and other domains across the cybersecurity ecosystem
  • Interacts and coordinates with software engineers and technical implementation experts within cloud connectivity, host and endpoint security, and detection and mitigation to identify gaps and train technical teams to develop risk-based products and solutions
  • Leads technical briefings with Service Area Accountable Executives and drives consensus in executive-level forums
  • Provides horizontal support across Cyber Risk Managements assessment teams to include advising and providing risk insights to ensure CAMP recommendations are implemented across Capital Ones various lines of business
  • Provides leadership oversight, subject matter expertise, and quality review associated with CAMP deliverables
  • Collaborates with stakeholders, executives, and LOB partners to complete assessments, develop cybersecurity maturity recommendations across cybersecurity domains (governance & risk management, strategy and program management, vulnerability management, threat intelligence, security monitoring, network protection, identity and access management, business continuity / disaster recovery, incident response, security architecture, and cloud security)
  • Leverages and enrich cybersecurity data from multiple sources to produce new insights about cyber program performance
  • Evaluates industry best practices and standards on cybersecurity capabilities, controls, and frameworks to further enhance CAMP processes
  • Drives improvement activities to program capabilities through the interpretation of technical issues and determination of root cause(s) of discovered weaknesses

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
  • At least 8 years of experience in cybersecurity or information security
  • At least 4 years of domain expertise with Data Loss Prevention, Identity and Access Management, Security Information and Event Management, or Network Security
  • At least 3 years of experience with managing personnel
  • At least 3 years of experience performing technical assessments
  • At least 2 years of experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS), cloud architecture, or cloud environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 6+ years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with key stakeholders or internal business partners
  • 3+ years of experience working with other security-related frameworks, including PCI-DSS, SOC 2, MITRE ATT&CK, or MITRE D3FEND
  • 3+ years of experience performing assessments or working with NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) Cybersecurity Assessment Tool (CAT), or Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) Cyber Security Self-Assessment
  • 2+ years of experience with threat modeling activities
  • 2+ years of project management experience utilizing agile or Kanban methodologies
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), AWS Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional, or CompTIA Network+ certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $234,700 - $267,900 for Sr Manager, Cyber Technical

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
