Atrium Hospitality is currently recruiting an Area Chief Engineer for our La Vista properties. The properties are location off Interstate 80 at exit 442, only 20 minutes from Omaha airport and a short drive from world class attractions, fabulous shopping and over 100 restaurants. The La Vista Embassy Suites has 257 all-suites; 3,400 sq ft of ground floor meeting space onsite, and adjacent to the 50,000 square foot La Vista Conference Center. Next to it, the La Vista Courtyard has 246 guestrooms and 2,000 sq ft. of ground meeting space onsite.

Salary Range: $90k- $100k

We are seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to manage the engineering departments and supervise maintenance operations for the hotels within their area while proactively managing business needs and potential risks to property, associates and guests.

Work Performed: 

The Chief Engineer will be tasked with the following duties, responsibilities, and assignments: 

  • Leading and developing a diverse and effective team that is qualified and capable of leading the engineering functions of the properties; 

  • Maintaining an adequate inventory of parts and supplies; 

  • Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in mechanical and electrical systems and other equipment throughout the hotel; 

  • Managing and collaborating in the development of the engineering and capital budget, which at times involves strategic agility and sound planning capability; 

  • Leading, developing and training the hotel engineering team in accordance with Atrium Core Values; 

  • Creating work schedules, managing and measuring department productivity; 

  • Overseeing preventative maintenance assignments and the execution of Capital projects in partnership with the Atrium Capital team;   

  • Maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and all relevant Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards; 

  • Tracking guest room requests for servicing and ensuring completion;   

  • Being the head of the loss prevention and risk management programs.   Managing the hotels loss prevention committees and ensuring all life safety systems are code compliant with the brand and the authority having jurisdiction (i.e. Fire Marshall, Building Inspector, etc.); and 

  • Any and all other work as required to complete the primary purpose of the position 

Qualifications: 

 

Required Prior Experience: 

7+ years of progressive engineering experience 

Working knowledge of facilities regulations and safety standards (i.e. OSHA, EPA, ADA, CFC, NFPA) 

Prior responsibility for a department budget with a fundamental understanding of a P&L statement, labor costs and other R&M expenses  

 Experience in managing utilities and energy systems 

Understanding of capital planning and replacement cycles 

 

Preferred Prior Experience:

Experience maintaining with commercial laundry and kitchen equipment. 

Prior multi-site responsibility 

 Prior hotel experience 

Required Education: 

Prior knowledge of and experience in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and general building construction 

Preferred Licenses/ Certification: 

 Certifications in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC 

Required Technology: 

Knowledge of computer equipment, basic telephony and IT background. 

Ability to use web-based applications for ordering, scheduling, CMMS systems experience.

Between properties within area
