Key Details:

  • Compensation: $17-$21/ Hour, DOE
  • Start Date: May 1, 2024
  • End Date: October 2024, Potential for Permanent Full-time Employment
  • Location: Bismarck, North Dakota
  • Additional details: Mileage reimbursement at the federal rate will be provided for personal vehicle use. Compass, range finder, tablet and other standard field equipment will be provided by WEST, however, technician must be equipped with, and provide their own suitable safety-toed boots, field appropriate clothing, and binoculars.

Job Description:

  • The successful candidates will be responsible for conducting surveys for threatened and endangered plant and wildlife species, wetland delineations, and other ecological assessments associated with large multi-disciplinaryprojects.
  • Other duties may include preparing NEPA documents, permit applications, and regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Overnight travel will be required.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

The requirements for this position are focused on general biology knowledge, a desire to be in the field, and a willingness to follow standard protocols to ensure the successful completion of project work. The successful candidate must be a self-starter who possesses:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in biological studies, natural resources, wildlife management, wildlife biology, or equivalent is preferred; however, undergraduates and enthusiastic workers are encouraged to apply.
  • A strong track record of maintaining positive relationships with coworkers, clients or stakeholders
  • Ability to follow instructions from managers and accept guidance and constructive criticism
  • Desire to be outside for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work independently and as a multi-disciplinary team and able to interact positively with clients, landowners, and other people.
  • Experience with use of topographic maps, GPS, and other field equipmentrequired.

After an offer of employment is made, the candidate must successfully pass a pre- employment background check, drug screening, and a DMV records check that meets WEST's minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company. A valid driver's license will be required.
