Job Description
KCHA's Humane Officer is responsible for enforcing Kanawha County, WV State laws and ordinances as they pertain to animal welfare. They will investigate reports on animal cruelty, patrol on calls for injured, sick and/or unwanted animals in Kanawha County and investigate animals that pose a safety risk for the public. The Humane Officer keeps the peace, educates and empowers members of the public who need assistance in caring for their animals. The Humane Officer must have emotional intelligence, as well as attention to detail to enforce and document their findings.
The humane officer's routine schedule will be Monday through Friday from 10:00am-6:00pm with a 30 minute lunch break. The officer will be "on call" every other week after hours and on weekends which will be in rotation with a fellow officer.
