Contracted Supervising Clinical Physician (PT), Pediatrics

OCFS is seeking a compassionate Pediatrician/Family Medicine physician to care for a culturally diverse, underserved patient population for up-to 10-hours per month. The Office of Children and Family Services is responsible for all elements of the state’s juvenile justice programs and for juvenile delinquents and juvenile offenders placed in the custody of the Office of Children and Family Services Commissioner. In my role, I am responsible for the oversite of the medical care for nine juvenile detention centers located throughout the State. These juvenile detention centers service youth ranging in age from approximately 12 to 17 years old. Each of these centers has its own medical office staffed by a nurse administrator and team of registered nurses, nurse practitioner and/or physician’s assistant.

This opportunity is a supervisory position responsible for the oversight and clinical supervision of other medical professional staff in these centers. This position monitors the coordination and implementation of medical care for youth by assigning individuals and/or individual care activities to lower-level clinical practitioners. The physician in this position may also provide periodic direct medical services to youth to confirm the medical impressions and diagnoses of other medical staff and to verify treatment outcomes. Payment for services are reimbursed through a monthly contract stipend and additional fee-for-service reimbursements, per youth, are paid via the Office of Children and Family Services at Medicaid rates.
