Substitute Teacher

Generation One’s mission is to champion strategic change in the education system, specifically, in early childhood education.

We seek experienced and enthusiastic Substitute Teachers to help implement the absent teacher's program of activities that promote each child's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Our teachers bring warmth, patience, and understanding daily, encouraging children to learn and grow. Our teachers create meaningful relationships with children and families that will ultimately lead to the success of the whole child.

Reports to: Center's Director/Principal

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide instruction and supervision to students in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Follow lesson plans and ensure continuity of instruction.
• Maintain a positive and safe learning environment for students.
• Implement behavior management strategies as needed.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the individual needs of students.
• Support students in their academic, social, and emotional development.
• Collaborates with other staff members to ensure effective communication and coordination

Requirements:

• Associate's degree
• 3-5 years of continuous professional experience in early childhood education, working with 2-5 years of age.
• Knowledge of social-emotional learning (SEL) and conscious discipline.
• Effectively manage student behavior and maintain a positive classroom environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Growth mindset, patience, flexibility, and adaptability in working with diverse student and staff populations
• Knowledge of special education strategies and accommodations is beneficial.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• CPR & First Aid.

Note: This position is on an as-needed basis, within the school work hours, 7:00-3:30, and special school event hours ending at 6:30 pm. Substitute teachers may be called upon to work on short notice.

Salary: $15.00 per hour
