Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled Network Engineer specializing in Campus Area Network/Local Area Network (CAN/LAN) services to contribute to the enhancement of our global enterprise networks. The Network Engineer will play a pivotal role in the modernization of network components and support the delivery of services tailored to meet the unique requirements of our government customer's operational enterprise. This exciting opportunity involves the complete overhaul of a global enterprise network, encompassing design, engineering, and transition phases, providing a chance to contribute to the development of a contemporary service provider network architecture.

JOB DUTIES:

Analyze customer requirements and employ standardized design approaches for effective service delivery. Thoroughly document designs, incorporating diagrams, bill of materials, cabling sheets, configurations, and other essential supporting documentation.

Utilize our private test lab to assess new technologies and capabilities, evaluate proposed changes to production networks, and recreate troubleshooting scenarios to aid the production enterprise network.

Coordinate maintenance windows to seamlessly migrate user connections from legacy to modern infrastructure, ensuring minimal impact on critical data flows.

Offer technical expertise to operations engineers and technicians, facilitating fault isolation and resolution. Develop innovative and scalable solutions to address challenging problems.

Formulate secure network designs, aligning configurations with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and enterprise policies. Obtain Authority to Operate (ATO) for new devices, software, and capabilities.

Supervise (without managerial responsibilities) other network support specialists, aiding in the planning, coordination, and implementation of network services.

Enhance design products, processes, and systems to optimize team efficiency and effectiveness.

While the primary focus of this position is on CAN/LAN, there is an opportunity to learn and contribute to Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Wide Area Networks (WANs).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 16 years of experience, which may be a combination of work history and education (Doctorate with 8 years of experience, Masters with 10 years, Bachelor’s with 12 years, Associates with 14 years, or High School with 16 years).

Required Clearance: Active TS/SCI with CI Poly.

Compliance with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 (Security+ CE).

Experience specific to Network Engineering, including Tier3 or higher network operations and/or network design and implementation.

Previous responsibility for production network hardware configurations for Cisco, Brocade, and/or Juniper.

Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting standard routing protocols in a production network, such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) or Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP).

Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting standard switching and trunking protocols in a production network, such as Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), 802.1q, and port-channels.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Specific experience in network engineering and design related to CAN/LAN, including the application of industry standards, configuration development, and solution integration into production environments.

Experience with MPLS WANs, network management tools, and firewalls in network engineering and design.

Expert knowledge of routing and switching protocols, demonstrated through briefings and documentation. Extensive Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) experience is a plus. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent knowledge.

Ability to obtain a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification within one year from the date of hire.

Initiative and discipline to work independently as part of a network engineering team. Experience in establishing processes, developing documents, and organizing repositories is a plus.
