Position Purpose:

The Behavioral Health Technician position requires the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with co-workers and clients. Must be able to operate multi-line telephone system, record incoming messages accurately, and to place telephone calls as necessary or directed. This job classification is covered under the agency’s Exposure Control Plan. Employees in this job classification may reasonably anticipate being occupationally exposed to infectious materials. This position requires the ability to lead and supervise emergency preparedness drills. Completion of agency Behavioral Health Technician training and orientation/job responsibility program is mandatory. Knowledge of behavior management procedures and techniques. Will follow all agency policies and procedures. Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of the job. Overtime may be required in this position.

Qualifications:

Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health gives hiring preference to applicants who achieve National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC). To receive NCRC, interested applicants must contact a Missouri Career Center. This position requires a High School Diploma or GED. Must be over the age of 21. Reliable judgment, good observation skills, dependability, and forthright demeanor are required. It requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. A Class E Driver’s License or lawful equivalent is required at the time of hiring or can be obtained within two weeks thereof. Certification in CPR/First Aid is required or can be obtained shortly after being hired. Flexibility to perform shift work is essential, as well as the ability to accurately record and communicate diverse information. Familiarity in using computer programs such as Microsoft Office is beneficial. Certification in CPR/First Aid may be required.

Must pass background check provided for the agency by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Family Care Safety Registry which includes the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Department of Social Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Health and Senior Services. Must not be on any “do not hire” list with the Department of Mental Health or the Missouri Division of Family Services. Must have reliable transportation.
