Salary:
Overview
Special Education Teacher wanted for grades 9 through 12. Candidates must be eager to work with students of all abilities in a public school and adapt instruction to students’ interests and needs. Candidates must also be willing to be involved in the life of the school.
Status of Position
This is a full-time position with Académie Lafayette. This is an exempt position pursuant to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Reporting
The Special Education Teacher reports to their campus/building principal.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for preparing and implementing the Missouri Learning standards for IDEA students in the classroom
- Following the goals and objectives in the IEP for each student by maintaining communication with parents and teachers on the educational progress of students.
- Work with building process coordinator in delivery of services to IDEA students.
- Work with general education teachers in screening, evaluating, and providing inclusion under parameters of IEP.
- Develop accommodations/modifications to meet the unique needs of students in classroom, CWC, or inclusive setting.
- Perform other duties assigned by Director of Special Education.
- Develop annual IEP’s and three reevaluation reports for special education students.
- Knowledge of Transition Process/Student Goals
- Classroom management
- Communicate with peers and parents
- Maintain accurate grades, documentation of report cards, and attendance records
- Participate in all mandatory training and professional development, as required
- Engage in school-wide activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Degree in Special Education
- Hold or be eligible for Missouri Teaching Certificate in Special Education or in an individual area
- Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines for IDEA and 504 partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures
- Proven experience as a teacher
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills necessary for working in a multicultural environment
- The ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and to meet deadlines
- Ability to integrate technology into the classroom
