Job Description
TheIndustrial MaintenanceTechnicianperforms semi-skilled and skilled maintenance repair work on various types of manufacturing equipment primarily related to production to ensure that production goals and customer expectations are met.
This position services all areas of the organization by ensuring safe operations efficiently. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. The scope of decision-making is broad within established parameters, conferring with skilled trades on more complex matters.
The ability to climb ladders, work in a man-lift or tight spaces and lift up to 80 pounds periodically are required.
This position requires physical work wherein the worker is active for the entire shift and exerts periodic heavy physical effort.
The physical nature of the work mandates the dexterous and skillful use of hands and the ability to work on knees or back periodically.
There may be times when the needs of the business dictate that the position responds to off-shift situations and/or work overtime.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs semi-skilled and skilled mechanical and electrical repair/installation (e.g., fixtures, valves, tooling, relays, and plc adjustments) & assists in skilled electrical & mechanical repair &/or installation
- Performs semi-skilled & skilled repair or replacement on doors, walls, and facilities structures, and assists skilled tradespersons with more complex or large-scale projects
- Performs moderate steel fabrication and wood carpentry
- Performs minor janitorial work as needed, e.g., over-filled toilet cleanup, changing trash bags, snow removal, etc.
- Gives work instructions to Maintenance Helpers. May provide input regarding job performance to Maintenance and Maintenance Supervisor
- Performs preventative maintenance duties and TPM activities
- Supports and participates in continuous improvement activities. May take on special projects because of Kaizen events.
- Stocking or inventory of parts as well as communicates with vendors

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATION/FORMAL TRAINING
- High School Diploma or equivalent required and proficiency with basic Math and Writing Skills
- Experience in PLC in a manufacturing setting
- Expose to Blueprint reading
- Experience working as a Facility Tech is required for this role
ESSENTIAL ABILITIES
Knowledge and experience in basic electrical wiring, mechanical and plumbing repair is required. Additional experience is preferred.
Proficiency using both power and hand tools required
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier
Must have a basic understanding of Microsoft Windows and be comfortable working with computers
Must pass MIWD forklift training & man lift operator training
Formal training in welding, electrical, or mechanical systems preferred

Employees are required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; bending, turning or twisting; pushing; and talk and hear. The employee must repetitively lift, push, and/or move up to 50 pounds unaided. 75 pounds or more must be lifted with assistance. Certain positions require the ability to climb a ladder to reach materials needed for assembly.
