Job Description

Position: Classroom Teacher Grades: K-6

Classroom teachers are required to teach student coursework based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).  The applicant must be able to apply knowledge of current education and instructional theories, methodologies, techniques, and principles while providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.


Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Use strategies and activities that result in increased student performance in content area and on standardized assessments and increased student success in meeting campus performance objectives;

·        Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required;

·        Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process;

·        Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits with CREATIVE strategies;

·        Create a UNIQUE classroom environment that fosters learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students;

·        Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned;

·        Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established by Individual Education Plans (IEPs);

·        Consistently assess student achievement through analyzing data from formal and informal assessments;

·        Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, principal, teachers and support staff;

·        Keep informed and comply with state and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers;

·        Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible;

·        Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school;


Qualifications:

·        This position requires a valid Texas teaching certificate in the subject area;

·        Candidate must meet the highly qualified teacher requirements per the No Child Left Behind Act.;

·        Candidates enrolled in a certification program are encouraged to apply;

·        Applicant must be able to successfully use a computer, interactive white board, document camera, digital camera, and any software necessary for administrative and educational tasks.


Requirements:

·        Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsement for subject and level assigned, or

·        Bachelor’s degree with five or more years of industry experience relevant to teaching in the core subject area or

·        10 or more successful years of classroom experience as an Educational Aide with less than 15 college credits remaining towards degree completion in the field of education.


Job Details:

Days: Monday – Friday

Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Salary: $40,575.00 - $43,709.00

Location: 400 Uhland Rd. San Marcos, TX 78666
