Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist provides a broad range of occupational therapy services to help patients develop and

improve their ability to complete everyday tasks related to their job and daily life.

Demonstrates accountability for and contributes to program development, quality improvement, problem solving and

productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary environment.

Essential Duties/Functions

• Conducts initial assessments to determine patients physical, communication and cognitive skills to develop a

treatment plan.

• Contributes to interdisciplinary care plans.

• Provides appropriate therapeutic interventions.

• Helps patients take part in everyday activities based on their circumstances.

• Evaluates patient response to treatment and adapts the treatment plan as necessary.

• Documents the course of patient care including progress made and continuing need for treatment.

• Gives advice and provides support to patient and family members.

• Contributes to the delivery of cost-effective care.

• Reports and complaints/grievances made by the residents to the Therapy Program Director. Reports incidents

of suspected incidents of resident abuse to the Therapy Program Director and/or the Executive Director

immediately.

• Performs administrative tasks, such as recordkeeping, writing reports and making phone calls.

• Additional job duties as assigned.
