WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE

The Water Distribution Technician operates and troubleshoots all water distribution systems, chemical generation, and distribution equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for various duties pertaining to the distribution of potable, process, cooling water, and other various water conditioning systems.

  • Operates and troubleshoots all facets of Water Distribution systems and related equipment.
  • Operates and maintains various chemical generation and distribution systems.
  • Adjusts, calibrates, and troubleshoots related instrumentation equipment.
  • Monitors fire suppression system
  • Maintains potable water distribution system and related record keeping, written and on the computer.
  • Assists in the installation and implementation of new equipment and related systems.
  • Monitors gauges, indictors, and related instrumentation and maintain records as necessary, pertaining to systems.
  • Collects samples and tests for contents.
  • Troubleshoot issues with Cooling tower, RO system, Ozone system and Condensers.
  • Replaces and repairs PVC systems.
  • Receives chemical loads in bulk and handles chemical inventory.
  • Mixes chemicals as necessary to properly treat water.
  • Pull samples for grease and oil from the sewer water and turn on the composite samplers.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of water sewers
  • Performs other various duties as assigned by Supervisor in support of Water Distribution operations.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and/or GED with one year of verifiable work experience in a water related field.
  • Must possess a Water Distribution Operator Certificate, minimum classification: D-1 approved by the State Water Resources Control Board
  • Valid CA Driver’s License

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English in both written and oral forms.
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and sketches.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of water chemistry and other basic chemical principles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in Water Distribution/Treatment preferred.
  • Water Distribution Operator Certificate, minimum classification: D-2 approved by the State Water Resources Control Board

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Use of hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls.
  • Must wear a respirator.
  • Required to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Regularly required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
