Lunar Outpost is dedicated to creating a sustainable presence in space, while also driving positive impacts here on Earth. We are seeking a talented, experienced Systems Engineer – RV&V Lead to help define the future of lunar surface mobility in a fast-paced startup environment. 


 Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead requirements development, decomposition and traceability to ensure customer requirements are satisfied 
  • Lead program level V&V team through successful planning and execution of validation and verification 
  • Provide experienced systems engineering support to technical teams in the development, documentation, build, test, and verification of subsystems, payloads, vehicles, and ground systems 
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand program requirements and ensure strong, continued communications throughout the lifecycle of the mission 
  • Support test plan development and creation in support of V&V activities 
  • Support other systems engineering tasks such as ConOps development, and interface definition between teams 
  • Support system and lower-level requirements management, including change control, audits, and coordination with other teams 
  • Leverage systems engineering tools, processes, and best practices to validate and verify the system 
  • Mentor other system engineers assigned to the team 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Proficiency in using requirements database tools (e.g. DOORS, Jama, Cameo Requirements Modeler) 
  • Demonstrated ability to create and review effective and verifiable requirements 
  • Demonstrated experience in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, requirement allocation, interface management, change management, verification and validation 
  • Demonstrated Systems Engineering experience across all technical disciplines of a space system 
  • Strong understanding of fundamental test and evaluation processes 
  • Experience with NASA or DoD systems engineering practices and expectations 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline 
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience 
  • Self-motivated, focused, and driven to meet critical deadlines 
  • Excellent organization and time management skills 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • U.S. Person 


 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo or others 
  • Experience delivering a system through the entire product lifecycle, from program kickoff through delivery 
  • Experience creating high-quality Customer contractual deliverables 
  • Experience with lunar rover, human spaceflight and/or autonomous software systems
