Helios HR is partnering with Converged Security Solutions (CSS) to find a Human Resources Manager to join their high-performing HR team.

Position Summary/Overview:

This is a full-time hybrid position with 3 days working out of the Reston, VA office.

This hands-on, contributing role will provide the opportunity to support the HR function right from the start & bring your expertise, energy, and presence to the table! The ideal candidate will be a self-directed individual with good judgement, is decisive, and possesses the flexibility necessary to operate successfully in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. This person must love technology and know ADP Workforce Now along with advanced Excel skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This new HR Manager position will provide technical expertise in support of business unit daily operations and top-priority corporate initiatives such as compensation, training, employee relations, workforce planning and development, and employee engagement. The successful candidate will build positive relationships and deliver HR services in a timely, effective manner and partner with leadership to ensure optimal employee engagement while fostering a high-performance culture.

  • Provide collaborative support and guidance to functional leadership and employees on a variety of initiatives to include company policies, procedures, and practices, performance management, and engagement.
  • Address performance concerns through verbal and written counseling, to include support of documentation preparation and coaching management through difficult conversations.
  • Investigate employee complaints/allegations by interviewing appropriate parties, gathering information, coaching managers, providing feedback, and making recommendations for corrective action to prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with HR leadership team and business unit leaders to coordinate and provide guidance on site activities and events which drive employee engagement.
  • Assist managers in assessing and identifying resources to meet employee and department training needs to support continuous skill development and employee engagement.
  • Develop an in depth understanding of CSS companies’ handbook, policies, and procedures to ensure appropriate interpretation and guidance.
  • Proactively research and maintain knowledge of labor laws, regulations and external mandates; report changes effecting CSS HR functions.
  • Facilitate Immigration Support.
  • Process requests in accordance with standard procedures for new hire on-boarding, ad-hoc employee lifecycle related processes/changes, and employment separations.
  • Develop job descriptions and career ladders. Evaluate and implement job analysis instruments and materials.
  • Maintain compensation system, to include job descriptions and classifications, salary scales and master job listing.
  • Oversee administration of new hire and exit surveys. Partner with HR leadership team to make recommendations and improvements based on results to increase engagement and improve employee satisfaction.
  • Perform analytical support such as: market pricing, technical reporting and analytics, attrition, and corporate metrics.
  • Develop and implement training programs focused on employee development, skill enhancement and employee retention.
  • Propose improvements to policies, programs, and procedures to improve the effectiveness of HR operations and mitigate HR risks.
  • Participate in routine and ad hoc internal and external audits.
  • Provide backup support to the HR department as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience with demonstrated success supporting multiple HR functions including employee relations, compensation, performance management, training, and employee development; some government contracting experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of managing an HR department or performing as an HR department of one in a small organization.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state compensation, employment and benefit laws, regulations, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated competence in HR management and workforce planning principles, and practices, specifically compensation, employee relations and engagement.
  • Professional communication skills, both orally and in writing, that enable collaboration, and building relationships with various levels and diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated success in managing employee relations.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data and articulate sound and reliable conclusions.
  • Experience implementing HR initiatives and delivering results in a changing & growing business environment.
  • Experience supporting routine and ad hoc internal and external audits.
  • Ability to self-manage and work independently, as well as part in a team environment.

Technical Requirements:

  • Excellent skill with MS Office suite, specifically using more advanced Excel functions.
  • Working experience with ADP Workforce Now; Deltek’s CostPoint experience a plus

Education, Training or Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Human Resources or related field preferred. Experience may substitute for degree.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or CCP certifications preferred.
