Position Overview:
Cornerstone Technologies is seeking an Accounting Clerk to support the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. This role involves preparing, recording, and verifying transactions, maintaining accurate customer files, addressing delinquent accounts, generating reports, and collaborating with the Controller and Director of Finance to ensure accurate financial records.
Responsibilities:
- Transaction Processing: Prepare, post, verify, and record customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.
- Invoicing and Customer Interaction: Create invoices, maintain customer files, and handle correspondence for standard past-due accounts, contacting delinquent account holders for payment.
- Reporting: Create and provide reports on the current status of customer accounts as requested.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Research and resolve customer discrepancies and past-due amounts in collaboration with the Controller and other staff.
- Reconciliation: Collaborate with the Controller to reconcile accounts receivable on a periodic basis, ensuring accuracy.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development, monitoring, and analysis of budgets. Collaborate with other departments to gather budget-related information.
- Billing Assistance: Assist in generating monthly billing statements based on the general ledger and aid the Controller in reconciling revenue accounts monthly.
- Documentation and Information Sharing: Copy, file, retrieve materials for accounts receivable, and relay changes of information to relevant employees.
- Ad Hoc Support: Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other accounting software programs.
- Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, 10-key calculators, and copiers.
- Capability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Professional interaction with customers and an ability to anticipate work needs.
- In office work
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
- Minimum of two years of related experience required.
