DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manage and develop both the regional inside and outside sales teams

  • Set specific goals for each Regional Account Manager and support achievement of those goals.
  • Live and drive the Steel Tech Cultural Tenets.
  • Develop and strengthen customer relationships in conjunction with the Regional Account Managers.
  • Develop and train sales group.
  • Facilitate improvement of inventory management and ROWC.
  • Work collaboratively with the divisional teams to resolve issues.

2. Develop commercial strategy for EBITDA growth of the region.

  • Develop optimum order books by plant in the region.
  • Manage accountability across the sales team to drive EBITDA and ROWC improvements; this includes holding customers accountable to their agreements with Steel Tech.
  • Identify and manage target account pipeline.
  • Understand customers’ growth strategies and industrial trends to identify new opportunities.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Purchasing and Business Planning to establish best supply chain structure and inventory management.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Operations to improve productivity, identified opportunities for growth and available capacity, and improve Steel Tech asset utilization.
  • Review and manage margin reports in line with company expectations.

3. Develop and maintain relationships and communication with external and internal customers.

a. External Customers:

  • Interface with and entertain Customers
  • Facilitate strategic initiatives to drive growth with customers.
  • Assist customers with resolution of credit issues
  • Conduct customer plant tours.
  • Inform Customers on market and understand how it affects their business.

b. Internal Customers:

  • Inside Sales and Outside Sales
  • Operations
  • Business Planning teams
  • Cross Matrix/Divisional leadership teams
  • Tech Services
  • Purchasing team

4. Manage customer forecasts and suggest appropriate adjustments where necessary; identify opportunities for non-contract business.

5. Ensure accurate pricing updates based on agreed pricing mechanisms.

6. Maintain knowledge of market trends and competition.

7. Ensure that regional strategies and goals are in alignment with corporate objectives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Extensive knowledge of pricing mechanisms and supply chain market trends.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution
  • Strong leadership, communication and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of management and all disciplines.
  • Ability to travel frequently.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a high level of credibility with customers through relationships.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Prefer a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5 years minimum of flat rolled steel and large account supply chain experience. Formal education may be substituted with experience and training when competency in the position is demonstrated.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must reside in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina
  • Must have live within 60 minute drive or less of major airport
  • Must be willing to travel 50+% of the time
  • This work is performed in an office setting with minimal to moderate noise due to computers, printers, and people.
  • Occasionally, work will be performed in a manufacturing setting with moderate to high levels of noise due to machinery and equipment processes. The temperature of the facility will vary based on the outside weather conditions. The use of personal protective equipment for safety compliance may be required as deemed necessary by management.
