Job Summary: The Healthcare Administration Intern supports the work of the organization to improve and support the hosting department’s goals and projects. This individual will have attention to detail, ask questions, set deadlines, create and organize into plans, execute them on time as scoped and on budget, and follow up with communications. Depending on the final candidate’s interests, we may be able to set up shadowing opportunities or schedule information sessions to learn more about the various careers available in healthcare administration. Interns will be assigned an area of focus, which may include, but not limited to, Workforce Development Program, the Project Management Office, Data Analytics, Learning & Development, the Process Improvement Program, Information Technology, and Marketing and Communications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Work with executive management, VG management and staff, to develop strategy, requirements, timelines, project plans and related documentation, coordinate implementation, and provide a sustainability plan for ensuring the work developed continues.

· Research, schedule meetings and author project communications related to assigned projects.

· Assist with a variety of training and development of physical/digital materials.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

Handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and subsequent related laws and VG policies. This position may have access to PHI via the electronic health record system used by VG in order to perform the functions of the job. This position is required to read the content of these records only to the extent needed to accomplish the assigned task.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Must be at least 18 years old.

· Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Aptitude for building connections, collaborating, and recognizing skills and assets in others.

· Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication.

· Some remote work capability.

· Ability to develop and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders.

· 16-40 hr./wk. depending on role.
