Junior Billing Specialist - Patient Advocate and Insurance Navigator

Our thriving, fee-for-service practice is seeking a dynamic Junior Billing Specialist to join our team and contribute to our financial success while advocating for our patients.

As a Billing Specialist, you will be a VITAL member of our patient advocate team, dedicated to navigating insurance regulations and decreasing insurance-related barriers for our patients. You'll serve as a subject matter expert in insurance requirements, authorizations, appeals, and patient navigation.This is a detail-oriented role that will allow you to strengthen your dental experience while using your persuasive skills to tackle insurance billing and patient accounts receivable challenges. You will be the patient advocate, ensuring that we maximize profits from insurance companies on the patients' behalf and assisting our patients who have fallen financially behind in their care.

You'll Offer:

• Knowledge of dental insurance billing and coding
• 3-4 years of experience with out-of-network provider insurance rules
• A proven track record for collecting past due patient balances
• Expertise in maximizing insurance payouts (dental experience is a must)
• Strong attention to detail, low error accuracy, and organizational skills - your numbers must match
• Enthusiasm for following up with patients who have balances
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a compassionate yet firm approach
• Understanding that finances are the number one reason why patients don't pay their bills, and a willingness to work with patients on financial arrangements
• A sense of humor, as collections can be a difficult and uncomfortable conversation
• Willingness to learn and grow within the role
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced patient practice environment
• Proficiency in computer applications and practice management software

Your Impact:

• Check patient insurance benefits and put them into our system correctly.
• Send out insurance claims and keep an eye on them to make sure we get paid fast and right.
• Use tools to check quality and reports to spot why claims get denied and how to do better.
• Keep patient accounts up-to-date by recording payments and changes when needed.
• Work on getting overdue payments from patients to help our practice make more money from insurance claims.
• Explain dental benefits and our office rules to patients so they understand.
