General Position Summary
Provides supervision for Corrections Work Crews. Organizes and participates in the maintenance and repair of county roads, park areas, facilities; and those of other local State and Federal agencies. Works with Assistant Director and/or Supervisor and Corrections Assistant on organizing and scheduling projects; use of computer to maintain records. Instruct, use and maintain equipment; performs other work as required.

  • Education and/or Experience
    • Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be experience in supervision, maintenance, gardening and landscaping and experience in the methods of safe work zone traffic control.
  • Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of DOC 400/OMS Database software; Internet Explorer Internet software; Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
    • Valid Oregon Driver's License
    • Possess a CPR and First Aid Card

Salary and Benefits
This is an hourly, non-exempt position, with a wage range of $ 20.13 - $ 25.49 per hour.  The pay range listed here reflects the FULL pay range for this position for the current fiscal year.  Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Work Schedule
The normal work schedule is 8 hours per day 5 days per week (will require some weekend and evening hours); exact schedules are assigned by management. It is the attendance standard of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work. Full or partial absence during any scheduled shift, arriving late, or leaving early, for whatever reason, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.  Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergency.
