What do we do?

Azure Summit Technology provides a wide range of multi-channel, software-defined radio solutions for applications including surveillance, communications, radar, direction finding, emitter location, and interference cancellation. Systems can be tailored to meet a variety of requirements for bandwidth, dynamic range, number of channels, and computational resources. Supported platforms range from resource-constrained small UAVs and wearable devices to manned aircraft and submarines. What will you do?

Azure Summit Technology is currently seeking an Accountant. The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic, growing, cross-functional, and geographically distributed team.  This position is on site at our facility in Fairfax, Virginia. Your future team has worked together to produce the following job description:

The selected candidate will be responsible for performing accounting tasks, including journal entries, account analyses, supporting monthly closings, maintenance of the general ledger and other duties as assigned. Duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:


  • Reconcile General Ledger accounts monthly and follow up on corrections
  • Review Accounts Payable vouchers weekly for posting
  • Assist with preparing and maintaining accounting policies, processes, and procedures
  • Prepare month-end adjusting and recurring journal entries, including direct material accruals
  • Prepare and maintain deferred rent scheduled
  • Enter fixed assets into fixed asset database and process depreciation and amortization monthly
  • Allocate Work in Progress costs monthly
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly
  • Prepare Management Reports and any other ad hoc reports needed
  • Create Cognos Reports, as needed
  • Prepare Line of Credit Draws and associated documents
  • Assist in Deltek-Costpoint system implementations, creating efficiencies and trouble shooting
  • Assist with Tax Planning and Cash Management
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Provide support internally to Program Management
  • Assist with AP processing
  • Other duties as assigned


The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in government contract types, understands GAAP, and is excited about performing in a team environment.   


Basic Requirements
- US citizenship, due to nature of the work and contract requirement
- Ability to obtain active SECRET clearance, due to nature of the work and contract requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with Deltek CostPoint
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a government contractor accounting environment


Preferred Qualifications
- SECRET clearance, due to nature of the work and contract requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Demonstrated knowledge of T&M, CPFF, FFP contracts
- Working knowledge of FAR, DCAA Audit Guidelines, and GAAP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel
- Strong analytical skills
- Deductive reasoning
- Strong attention to detail (in process and product) and follow-through skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize appropriately
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven track record of handling confidential information with discretion
