About the Role:

This position is primarily responsible for scheduling patients’ appointments for consultation, medical procedure, and follow-up.  Take or respond to telephone calls promptly to establish or confirm appointments. Responsible for collecting existing and new patient insurance information and verifying for verification purposes. Responsible for maintaining and updating patients’ medical records. Responsible for taking messages and transferring to the appropriate doctor or medical assistant.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Uses private branch exchange (PBX) switchboard to connect interoffice and house
  • Answers, screens, and routes outside calls, and greeting patients.
  • Supplies information to callers and records
  • Keeps record of calls placed and toll charges.
  • Performs clerical duties such as typing, and sorting
  • Operates paging system to relay in-house announcements or call individuals to
  • Receives visitors, obtains names and nature of business, and schedules
  • Updates telephone directory.
  • Files zetta incoming faxes
  • Scheduling patient appointments for consultations, medical procedures, and follow-up visits.
  • Collecting existing and new patient demographics and insurance information accurately.
  • Communicating with other health care professionals about changes to preparation.


FLSA: Non-Exempt


Education/Experience (Minimum Requirements):

  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Knowledge of common medical terminology.
  • Prior receptionist experience, ideally in a medical clinic environment.
  • Bilingualism (English/Spanish) a strong plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and phone etiquette.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills
  • Organized and Resourceful
  • Active Listener.
  • Multitask

Medical Clearance:

You must complete Comprehensive Primary Care’s medical clearance requirements, which include, but may not be limited to, evidence of Hepatitis B, Pneumococcal screen, and a Tuberculosis screen, or have an approved medical or religious accommodation that precludes you from being vaccinated against these diseases.
