JOB SUMMARY:

Metro-OKC based General Contractor is a well-established Commercial and Military construction firm specializing in design-build, construction management and design-bid-build contracts is seeking a Construction Estimator. This is a full-time, long-term position located in Midwest City, OK.


The Estimator is accountable for submitting timely and competitive estimates and meeting the revenue targets assigned. Estimators are expected to be proactive is seeking business growth, development, and diversity opportunities. Typical projects ranges from $1M to $15M.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare cost models from early design concepts using historical cost data and subcontractor assistance using limited preliminary design documents/information
  • Perform preconstruction services including system analysis, constructability reviews and value management during early preconstruction efforts
  • Meet and interface with owner/client, and key stakeholders to understand project and cost
  • Lead effective purchasing including writing subcontracts/purchase agreements
  • Develop procurement strategies and follow through at bid time
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, construction methods, systems, and materials
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and material vendors.
  • Outside of office participation with local subcontracting community
  • Maintain company standards and ethics
  • Personnel evaluation and development
  • Solicit, analyze, compare and summarize subcontractor proposals and bid
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements; setting priorities.
  • Prepares construction budget by studying home plans; updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs for each elevation.
  • Evaluates offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements.
  • Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price.
  • Maintains cost keys and price masters by updating information.
  • Resolves cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
  • Maintains continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Periodically visit project sites and be a resource to project construction teams for cost, schedule and quality issues. Vast experience in various contract delivery types (ie. Hard bid, CM@R, Design/Build)
  • Expertise in conceptual estimating and hard bid environments
  • Other projects as assigned
Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, or related field. Preferred Civil, Structural, Architecture or Construction Management or Engineering

• Using Microsoft Project: 1 year (Required)

• Computer software - Microsoft Office 365, Excel templates, Procore, MS Project & AutoCAD

• Building IMS's: 1 year (Required)

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience on large construction projects

• Self-Motivated, driven individual with problem solving skills

• Experience showing a strong work ethic and willingness to learn


WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting from floor, and bending. Field or site work required. Frequent near vision use for reading and computer use. Frequent stressful conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for sedentary work.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Prefer US Citizenship & ability to obtain a government security clearance (up to Top Secret) Required. Subject to a background check and drug screening. Must sign a Confidentiality Agreement and abide by confidentiality regarding program and personnel matters.
