What will I be doing? Manage and take ownership of the end to end Distribution processes ensuring the day to day operation runs smoothly Be accountable and ensure TMS is used correctly so that data quality is maintained to a high standard to ensure a smooth operation as well as timely and accurate reporting/accounting This is very much a relationship role, regular customer/site and supplier visits required to develop and maintain strong relationships to ensure problem/conflict areas are reduced/resolved To work closely with Regional Managers sharing performance metrics and driving improvements Hold weekly/fortnightly meetings with operations to drive improvements to the haulage operation with a focus on waste reduction and performance optimisation Provide mentoring and training to existing and new direct reports as well as provide cover for other Senior Operations manager and Planners when necessary Standardise and document processes to share best practice across systems and operations to ensure productivity Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), ensure performance metrics are shared and discussed regularly to drive improvements. Contract management, rate negotiation and tender accountability working closely with Procurement/legal to obtain the correct service provision at the best possible rates Grow and develop the outsourced haulage network to ensure sufficient service is available to meet Suez UK’s needs Ensure the business is utilising Distribution for outsourced bulk haulage requirements, effectively managing and communicating any areas where deviation from the process may exist What are the requirements? CPC (National and International) Computer literate, well versed in MS applications (in particular XLS and PPT) Min 5 years experience in Sea Freight/SCM/Logistics with experience utilising TMS’s Project Management Fundamentals Qualification or similar would be highly desirable CPC (National and International) Supply chain/Logistics qualification or similar would be highly desirable Lean fundamentals/practitioner Knowledge of environmental, haulage regulations, contractual and data protection laws to protect the company from potential liability Financial awareness - understanding of financial accounting/decision making Project Management Full understanding of the regulations relating to exporting waste/material (TFS obligations, CMR operations and the liabilities of carriers) Strong knowledge of vehicle types/configuration, loading/offloading techniques to ensure ‘best fit’ solutions for the business Process improvement Transport sustainability Procurement of services Full driving license Who we are At SUEZ the efficient and sustainable management of resources around the UKis at the heart of everything we do.
