Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations. Must have leadership experience, including day to day management, budget cost and scheduling management, as well as people management.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasoable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

We are looking for Senior Engineering Manager. This role is three parts: approximately 10% broad business and strategic engagement, 30% functional management role and approximately 60% direct program support.

  • Strategic Engagement: Supporting organizational strategy initiatives, which may include driving new technology and capability initiatives and roadmaps. As a matrixed organization, a SEM is expected to facilitate cross program and domain collaboration to leverage technologies, resources or designs as necessary to meet organization objectives and customer commitments. The SEM is expected to remain current in relevant technologies across the domain, while developing current staff to obtain mastery in novel/emerging fields to maintain our world class engineering staff. Engineering Senior Managers lead / support engineering proposals to determine if they meet industry standards, are cost effective and feasible from an engineering standpoint.
  • Functional Management: Mentoring and supervising a team of direct reports and technical managers to strengthen the team and foster a winning culture, while demonstrating accountability to the success of all programs within the matrixed engineering organization. Always delivering on engineering commitments while also developing the engineering talent to maintain our competitive advantage.
  • Direct Program Support: Technical work or program leadership, e.g., IPT leadership (Lead or Deputy Lead and/or CAM), technical lead, and/or mission critical role). Collaboratively engage with the Director of Engineering, other Senior Engineering Managers, and Business Area Managers to ensure cost, schedule, and technical success for all programs in Progeny.

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

  • Focus on innovation engineering and driving results when developing software, hardware, and technology solutions in support of our customers. Providing warfighters with the capabilities they require to excel.
  • Develop and lead a world-class engineering team. This includes all aspects of staff management, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, workload management, training, coaching/mentoring, career development, performance management, compensation management, and separation of assigned employees.
  • Ensure the success of our customers mission through proactive program engagement and innovative ideas.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and program success by engaging with stakeholders, delivering on engineering commitments and meeting or exceeding performance expectations (high quality, speed of delivery, technical performance measures, etc.).
  • Represent GDMS to customers, stakeholders, and employees. Managing relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Exhibit strong leadership within our engineering organization and while working on cross-functional initiatives

Target salary range: USD $203,378.00/Yr. - USD $225,622.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
