Job Description
Mrs. Jo's Petite Eats Cafe and Patisserie is a corporate cafe located in the PenFed and LMI headquarters in Tysons, VA. We provide southern cuisine with a French Flair. We strive for excellence in everything we do!
We are seeking an experienced Head Line Cook to help prepare and cook food in a timely manner. In addition, this person will be responsible for assisting the Kitchen Manager in ensuring food is cooked accurately and to customer specifications.
Signing Bonus
$300 after successful completion of 60 days
$19 per hour
Monday - Thursday, 6:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Friday 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Essential Job Duties
* Inspects and clean food preparation areas or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
*. Ensures food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
*. Ensures freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock.
*. Seasons and cooks food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience, under the direction of the Kitchen Manager.
*. Bakes, roasts, broils, and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
* Observes and tests foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently.
* Washes, peels, cuts, and seeds fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
* Carves and trims meats for hot or cold service.
* Consults with Kitchen Manager to plan menus, taking into consideration factors such as costs and special event needs.
* The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Other Skills: Communication, coordination, teamwork, attention to detail
Job Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a restaurant or cafe environment
- Active ServSafe Certification
- Food Handlers Certification
