Department Overview

 

At PG&E, the Data and Analytics organization is focused on unlocking the value of PG&E’s data to support the company’s Wildfire Safety Program. As part of that focus, we concentrate on delivering data and AI/ML centric products to support these initiatives. Some of the products that are being delivered include Remote Inspections, AI Enabled Inspections, Vegetation Management through LiDAR capabilities, Transmission Line Asset Data Foundation, Electric Distribution Asset Data Foundation, Asset Risk Modeling, and a Cloud Native Foundational Platform.

 

A critical part of how we operate is to apply design thinking, work and observe the Agile development methodology, and co-location. Through these principles, we work as product teams to help deliver a valuable product to our business.

 

Position Summary

 

We are seeking a Senior Product Owner for the Data & Analytics Team. You will join a product team and work with Product Management to refine the product vision that aligns to user research and organizational strategies. From the vision, you will work with product management, designer and tech leads to create a roadmap that will be expressed in a prioritized backlog to that will deliver and iterate the right features. You will foster a collaborative agile environment for the product team to bring the data and AI/ML centric products to life. You will be hyper focused on the customer and measure the success and value the product unlocks.

 

The role is hybrid working primarily from your remote office and the Oakland General Office, in-person, once monthly for team strategy and collaboration or as business needs require. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

 

Bay Area Minimum:        $114,000

Bay Area Maximum:       $182,000

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Take the lead of scrum teams as the Product Owner
  • Put the user first and think creatively and critically about data and AI/ML products
  • Always start with user empathy and include a passion for products – down to the smallest detail.
  • Be familiar with business pains and gains to clearly express product value
  • Providing vision and direction to the Agile development team and stakeholders throughout the project and create requirements 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to handle both executive-level discussions as well as functional / technical deep dives.
  • Ensure that the team always has an adequate amount of prior prepared tasks to work on
  • Plan and prioritize product feature backlog and development for the product
  • Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics, and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy
  • Transforming product strategy into well-articulated business requirements, as well as using qualitative and quantitative data effectively to inform product direction and prioritization.
  • Able to effectively bridge the gap between engineering and business.
  • Work closely with Product Management to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value or ROI
  • Lead the planning product release plans and set the expectation for delivery of new functionalities
  • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals
  • Keep abreast with Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years of work-related experience to include successfully shipped product from discovery to delivery for B2B or B2C products or services; experience as a team member or Product Owner of an agile development team and/or relevant product experience in an enterprise environment.

 

Desired:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related job discipline
  • Experience as Product Owner, Agile Environment, 3 years
  • Product Owner, Scrum Master, or other Agile certifications
  • Humble - is open to being coached, has high EQ and is self-aware
