Summary

The MIL Corporation is looking for a Technical Writer/Editor (Technical Writer, Analyst) to support multiple projects in the Rapid Engineering and Prototyping Solutions (REPS) Sector in Lexington Park, MD. The Technical Writer/Editor will support the development, formatting, editing, and configuration management of documentation for projects supporting a wide variety of communication systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to coordinate and communicate with engineers, technicians, and managers to produce high-quality documentation that is grammatically correct, error-free, and conveys intended meaning.
  • Creation of documentation deliverables, including but not limited to requirements specifications, design documents, test plans/procedures/reports, scientific and technical reports, technical data packages, user manuals, operations and maintenance manuals, training materials, project briefings, and management plans.
  • Provide support for the development of policy directives, guidebooks, program/project briefing materials, and correspondence.
  • Responsible for the compilation, review, and editing of technical and administrative documentation.
  • Work closely with government clients and team members to ensure schedules and objectives are met and exceeded.

Travel

No travel is expected at the onset. However, as experience gained and ability is demonstrated, travel may be expected to support on-site installations. Candidates must be willing to travel to CONUS, and occasionally to OCONUS, sites. Total travel is expected to be less than 10%.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 to 6 years of technical writing/editing experience including editing, preparation, and production of technical reports, presentation materials, and other related documentation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Proficient with graphics editing software (e.g., Photoshop/GIMP).
  • Knowledgeable in project management tools (e.g., MS-Project, One Pager Pro, etc.) as related to artifact generation.
  • Demonstrated writing/editing skills with the ability to gather information from multiple sources then organize and synthesize the information into a clear point of view and create a concise and well-written narrative.
  • Familiar with governing standards and guidelines associated with the preparation of technical documentation.
  • Effective oral and written communications with technical and management staff.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with other documentation tools (e.g. LaTeX).
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., SVN).

Education

Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, or applicable discipline.

Salary at MIL is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, and contractual limitations. For this position, the projected compensation range is $60,000 - $80,000 per year. This estimate represents the typical salary range and is just one part of MIL's complete compensation package.
