DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The primary responsibility of this position is to assist kitchen department staff in a variety of capacities. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Is responsible for continuous monitoring of buffet table to ensure all buffet items are appropriately stocked and appealing.
2. Accurately records a listing of buffet items using pan usage forms.
3. Is responsible for carving on the buffet line and managing portion control procedures.
4. Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment in the kitchen and buffet tables including cleaning and polishing stainless steel and glass fixtures and washing walls, ceiling and vents.
5. Assists in loading dishwashers, inspecting dishes, glasses and flatware for cleanliness and accurately sorting all items.
6. Is responsible for ensuring that holding ovens, coolers, freezers, dry storage, buffet tables, carts, dish equipment and dish cleaning areas are maintained in an orderly, clean and sanitized manner.
7. Performs daily cleaning and maintenance of dishwashing machines to ensure effective operation of machines.
8. Ensures that the kitchen and buffet floors are clean and free of debris or spills.
9. Empties garbage cans as needed and conforms to established recycling procedures.
10. Notifies supervisor or manager of situations that may affect guests, associates or the Lake of the Torches Resort Casino.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Continual contact with Food and Beverage staff and occasional contact with other associates.
External: Continual contact with guests.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Performs position responsibilities under the direct supervision of the Kitchen Supervisor or the Kitchen Manager checking with supervisor frequently for directions or questions.

EDUCATION: A high school education or equivalent is required.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one year experience in a kitchen environment is preferred.

SKILLS: Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, prioritization and an understanding of chemical/cleaning agent usage. Must maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations as necessary.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
1. Work Conditions: The majority of responsibilities are performed within the kitchen with exposure to differentials in temperature.
2. Exposure to Hazards: Controlled exposure to high temperatures from cooking equipment and food preparation may occur. May be exposed to situations where hazardous chemicals, sharp implements, spills, wet floors or guest behaviors may create undesirable conditions.
3. Physical Requirements: Continual walking, bending, standing and lifting is required.
