Mental Health Technician - La Crosse County or Monroe County

Summary:

The Mental Health Technician will work directly with children in their home and/or community teaching life skills, activities of daily living (ADL's), social and communication skills and verbal behavior interventions. The treatment is individualized to meet the need of the child and used to decrease problem and aggressive behavior as well as promote skill acquisition.

Status Info:

This is a part time, hourly role. Flexible hours with potentially some weekends; hours may vary depending on family needs. Hours may include early mornings or late evenings.

Skills: We're looking for individuals with excellent communication and time management skills. Developing and maintaining relationships with clients, supervisors and colleagues is a must! Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred, along with experience with Autism or other complex care needs.

Job Duties Include:

  • Be familiar with or willing to learn how to use prompting, modeling, positive reinforcement, visual schedules, to progress the client to reach their goals.
  • Use a Trauma Informed Approach by communicating with and about clients in a respectful, positive and age-appropriate manner while consistently using a therapeutic tone even in high stress situations.
  • Under the supervision of the Director of Mental Health Services, implement objectives outlined in the treatment plans with clients ensuring integrity of treatment.
  • During times of crisis, demonstrate the ability to problem solve and make appropriate decisions.

Education Requirements: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalency and be 18 years old.
