Fishmonger - Retail Store

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Fishmonger to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for seafood, a strong understanding of various fish species, and exceptional customer service skills. The Fishmonger will be responsible for handling, preparing, and selling a diverse selection of fresh fish and seafood products to our customers.

Responsibilities:

1. Seafood Handling and Preparation: Receive, inspect, and appropriately store incoming seafood deliveries. Prepare fish and seafood products for display and sale following proper handling and sanitation procedures.
2. Product Knowledge: Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of different fish species, their characteristics, flavors, and optimal cooking methods. Provide guidance to customers regarding preparation, cooking techniques, and recipe ideas.
3. Customer Service: Engage with customers in a friendly and informative manner. Offer personalized assistance, answer inquiries, and provide recommendations based on individual preferences and needs.
4. Merchandising and Display: Maintain an attractive and organized seafood display. Ensure products are properly labeled, priced, and presented to uphold quality standards and attract customers.
5. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and manage freshness to minimize waste. Place orders for seafood supplies while adhering to budgetary constraints and maintaining adequate stock levels.
6. Adherence to Regulations: Comply with health and safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of perishable goods. Adhere to food safety standards and protocols at all times.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with seafood in a retail or similar setting is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of different fish species, seafood handling, and proper storage techniques.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for extended periods.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations related to food handling.
