RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

1) Parts Clerks will deal with every aspect of inventory control. They keep detailed records of any changes in inventory or production and report these changes to the proper department. They may do this on a regular or periodic basis. Parts Clerks may also record information about each individual item for future reference.

2) When a company receives its products from a supplier, these products must be inspected to ensure they are safe for distribution. Parts Clerks inspect products and take note of any damaged or potentially unusable products. They may send defective products back to the supplier or dispose of them according to company standards.

3) When a shipment of products arrives at a place of business, Parts Clerks will receive and sign for them. They may interact with vendors to ensure shipments are scheduled.

4) Parts Clerks perform a very important function, and they are responsible for ensuring a company’s inventory remains sufficient. They may place orders when products get low and send back items the company does not need. Parts Clerks often work with other company departments to find out what is needed.

5) Parts Clerks are expected to keep detailed and accurate records of any change in inventory. These changes are usually compiled into reports or entered into a database and presented to a manager or supervisor. This allows the company to keep track of supply and demand over long periods of time.

  • Develops and implements procedures for ensuring that adequate inventory levels are present.
  • Maintains consistent stock of inventory, ordering new stock up to pre-authorized limit as inventory dwindles. (Ensures that inventory counts are completed regularly and in a timely manner.)
  • Identifies and optimizes common inventory items.
  • Assesses inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery.
  • Provides inventory reports to the procurement manager.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with vendors.
  • Works with other teams including the production, the maintenance, and the logistics.
  • Maintains accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made.
  • Manages and maintains inventory system; facilitates upgrades to related database and/or software under the direction of the procurement manager.
  • Audits the facility’s entire inventory on a regular basis and provides reports to management.
  • Assists with periodic physical inventory audits.
  • Trains other employees in cycle counting and inventory control.
  • Operates forklift truck (or other heavy equipment)
  • Unload and unpack shipments of products
  • Inspect contents to ensure they are undamaged
  • Verify packages according to order or packing slip (quantity, quality, price etc.) and enter receiving data on paperwork
  • Record receiving data in company databases
  • Prepare and organize received stock for inventory
  • Return damaged products to senders
  • Collaborate with procurement staff to list expected deliveries
  • Contact supplier or shipper if a mistake is identified
  • Assume responsibility for returning unsatisfactory shipments or receiving replacements
  • Label deliveries and allocate them to their designated place
  • Keeps a particular area for returned goods tidy and clean.
  • Follows all existing company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of math and computer Skills―Basic Excel knowledge is must.
