Electrical Designer

Intermountain Electronics, Inc., a world-class company that designs, engineers and manufactures sophisticated, custom electrical distribution and control equipment is seeking an Electrical Designer for our IEC Department located at our Price, UT facility.

What will I do?

The Electrical Designer will design and prepare detailed electrical drawings for clients and customers in the support of the electrical portion of custom projects and equipment.

Electrical Design

• Develop accurate, complete, and timely electrical drawings; work with customer to clarify details and obtain approvals.
• Draft working drawings, wiring diagrams, wiring connection details per bid/project specifications.
• Create and update equipment, component electrical layout drawings utilizing AutoCAD.
• Organize and manage department drawings, storage, and control to latest revision for multiple site locations.
• Compile electronic drawing libraries for repetitive tasks/projects.
• Update reports and document plans based on revisions and changes to the project.
• Communicate as necessary with Project Manager, assigned Engineers, and customer team where necessary.
• Make changes, review edits, and modify prints as needed.
• Performs redline corrections and develop design drawings from initial sketches.
• Develop detailed bill of materials and provide to procurement for fulfillment.
• Provide guidance to mechanical engineering group on integration of electrical and mechanical design; assist in obtaining customer approval as required.

Requirements

• Associates degree in Electrical Technology or CAD with 4 years of electrical design experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a closely related field.
• Deep understanding of electrical distribution equipment, standards, and specifications
• Experience with contract documents such as contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendum, change orders, etc.
• Proficient with engineering software (AutoCAD, etc.) ERP systems in quote development and Microsoft software
• Strong interpersonal and customer relations skills
• Capable of working independently as well as in a team environment
• Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time and possess a valid driver's license.
