Job Title: Elementary School Music Teacher
Job Classification: Licensed Instructional
Reports to: Success Academy Principal
Work Schedule: School Calendar / 8:00am-4:00pm
General Description:
Provide students with varied opportunities to learn about and enjoy general music experiences as creators, performers, observers, and listeners to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, artistic, and social growth.
Primary Responsibilities
· General knowledge of curriculum, elementary music instructional strategies and state music standards
· Knowledge of interdisciplinary teaching strategies integrating music with other subject areas and other fine art disciplines
· Experience in local, regional, and state professional music organizations preferred
· Work closely with school administration to ensure that music is a valued and viable part of the curriculum
· Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students for whom you are responsible within your classroom
· Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development
· Create daily lessons and prepare materials and classroom for class activities
· Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicate those objectives to students
· Assign and grade class work and homework
· Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress
· Provide differentiated instruction, student engagement, quality pacing and rigor throughout lessons taught
· Enforce administration policies and rules governing students
· Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration
· Select, store, order, issue, inventory classroom equipment materials and supplies

Family Engagement
· Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents and share progress
· Collaborate with parents or guardians, teachers, social worker, and administration to resolve students' behavior and academic problems
· Meet with parents and guardians to discuss children's progress and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs
· Ability to communicate assessment results, in written and oral forms, to parents and professionals
· Be available for open houses, parent-teacher conferences, PBL presentations, and other events involving families

Requirements:Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree and licensure in music education
· Demonstrates competency in elementary music instruction
· Prior successful experience directing chorus and band activities desired
· Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Demonstrates technology proficiency including but not limited to Microsoft applications
· Possesses the ability to work independently and manage time effectively
· Possesses stamina to handle highly active young people
· Lifelong learner- proven expertise and skills when working with new technologies
