Job Description
Certified Medical Assistant / Medical Secretary

Outpatient - Hagerstown

40 hours per week

Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the medical assistant & clerical support for the assigned outpatient physician practice staff
  • Schedules appointments in electronic health system
  • Takes messages, screen calls
  • Collect deductibles and co-pays
  • Sends outpatient letters, including work and school notes
  • Requests medical records from outside facilities
  • Reviews consent forms for accuracy and ensures they are current
  • Runs caseload reports to keep the providers caseload current
  • Scans paperwork into the EMR
  • Prescription Refills
  • Closes Outpatient records when needed
  • Works with staff and patients in manner that ensures a positive outcome
  • Take patient vitals
  • Administer injections
  • works with pharmacies and insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations for medications or procedures
  • obtain patient vital signs, collect medical histories, and complete medication reconciliation in EMR
  • collect laboratory specimens
  • giving injections as directed by medical providers
  • writing letters or recording medical notes for provider

Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant required.
  • Experience working in a health care office is preferred.
  • Intermediate technology skills required
  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
