Director of Safety Operations - Construction
Location: Campbell, CA
Salary Range: 150-200k + Bonus Opportunities

We are actively seeking a Director of Safety Operations to join a stable leader in the underground utility construction industry where safety is priority one! This firm has one of the best Safety Programs in the industry, providing robust education and training, regular field observations and coaching sessions with crews, implementation of team incentive initiatives, and more. As the Director of Safety Operations, you will take the lead on further developing and executing these programs.

In this role, your primary objective will be to prevent workplace accidents and incidents by implementing comprehensive safety measures and fostering a culture of safety-first ownership. You will work closely with operations management to identify training needs, conduct thorough investigations into safety-related incidents, and ensure compliance with all regulations. Your expertise in construction safety management and strong leadership skills will be instrumental in driving forward the safety-first culture.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and implementation of safety and health programs to maintain optimal safety standards.
  • Conduct in-depth investigations to identify the root causes of safety incidents and violations.
  • Collaborate with operations to identify training needs and provide coaching and guidance as required.
  • Oversee monthly safety meetings and ensure effective communication of safety protocols.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on relevant safety regulations, including Fed-OSHA and Cal-OSHA standards.
  • Manage the Incident Review Committee and facilitate disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Develop a comprehensive learning curriculum to ensure ongoing safety training for all employees.
  • Establish and maintain strict compliance with safety inspection programs.
  • Foster positive relationships with employees, agencies, and medical facilities to promote a culture of safety.
Key Qualifications:
  • 10+ years experience in safety management in the construction industry
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred
  • OSHA 30 and valid CA driver’s license
  • Ability to work in a high production environment, including 50+ hr weeks with some weekends
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines effectively
  • Proven track record of implementing successful safety initiatives
