Job Description

Job Title: Senior Plant Accountant

As a Senior Plant Accountant in the Accounting/Finance department within the Specialty Products and Blades businesses, your goal is to ensure the integrity of accounting information and provides financial decision-making by collecting, recording, verifying, consolidating, analyzing cost information and generating monthly income statements.

You can expect to:

  • Coordinate and close the books on a monthly basis.
  • Support variance analysis related to financial results.
  • Collect, analyze, and record data to determine the costs of business activity and in some instances, take the lead in recommending and implementing cost procedures that are most appropriate for particular operation/organization.
  • Support supplemental statistical reporting requirements for the business units.
  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Support annual and interim audit requirements.
  • Support CAR and major expense requirements including ROI calculations.
  • Assist in maintaining standard cost structure as necessary because of changes to product design, raw material purchases, inventory, and labor. Includes department overhead rate maintenance.
  • Lead and improve overall business knowledge in the area of cost accounting. Responsibilities would include but not be limited to annual cost roll, interim cost rolls, purchase part standards, missing cost review, job variance analysis, labor and burden rate analytics, pricing, etc.
  • Actively participate in and provide financial summary for divisional and executive operational reviews.
  • Support business unit financial budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes.
  • Work closely with production, customer service, information systems, etc. to integrate data gathering and reporting systems that provide the most accurate and pertinent information to management.
  • Prepare special reports for management or operating units utilizing costing techniques as needed.
  • Support monthly inventory activities, as necessary.
  • Acts as a back-up to other business units within the Fisher Barton family.
  • Train and assist on development of Staff Accountant.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-7 years progressive responsibility with financial reporting in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3-7 years experience with inventory accounting and standard costing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Familiar with pivot table usage and VLOOKUP programming
  • Experience with ERP systems (examples: Oracle, EPICOR, SAP, etc.)
  • Experience using financial consolidation software (Hyperion, Essbase, Longview, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CMA or CPA
  • Experience using Epicor Vantage
  • Longview Accounting Systems experience
