Looking for a Cost Accountant that controls and manages the organization’s manufacturing cost system, maintain bill of materials, development of new product costs, and providing timely and accurate financial information 1) in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and 2) for manufacturing and inventory planning, control and decision-making.



Skills needed: manufacturing accounting, supply chain, product development, Cost Accounting, cycle count/physical inventories

Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with various departments to understand processes to develop and maintain standard cost, labor and overhead rates for all product lines.
  • Review the recording of manufacturing, labor, distribution and shipment transactions, work orders, bills of material, etc. for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly variances from standard cost including:
    • Direct labor analysis
    • Overhead & Departmental cost rates
    • Inventory analysis
    • Other analysis as required
  • Prepare and issue manufacturing efficiency reports.
  • Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability.
  • Ensure timely submission, accuracy and validity of inventory, gross margin schedules to management.
  • Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost and inventory, liability accounts by customer type by division.
  • Thorough understanding of inventory transactions and monthly reconciliation of sub ledger detail to general ledger.
  • Lead and manage the Engineering Change Notification (ECN) process including the evaluation and reporting of cost savings initiatives related to product development and manufacturing efficiencies.
  • Perform financial analysis related to new product launch efforts.
  • Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation, inventory roll forward.
  • Development and implement policy and procedures in compliance with GAAP promoting a strong internal control environment.
  • Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls.
  • Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle count/physical inventories.
  • Work in special projects as required.
  • Strives to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible, and re-use resources when practical.
  • Works safely at all times, follows safety rules and policies and participates in scheduled training

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, correspondence, reports and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with a variety of people and respond to basic questions in situations where common courtesy and tact are needed.

QUANTITATIVE SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to use such concepts in practical situations. Ability to use a computer to create spreadsheets and charts and run reports.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of manufacturing accounting, supply chain, product development, and information systems.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data and reconcile complex account.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with operations and production support personnel
