Job Summary: In this role, the Scientist may perform analysis, research, development, testing, validation, documentation and transferring of analytical methods for raw materials and finished products in support of Restek’s revenue goals and strategic plan within assigned area. This position will work with cross functional groups within Restek. This position monitors product performance over a period of time to evaluate and validate processes, quality, documentation, and training. This position also provides technical expertise and maintains regular communication with customers to provide Restek with new technologies, ideas for new products, and improvements to existing products. . This position is also responsible for the timely and accurate analysis and feedback of early-phase formulation samples developed by R&D and providing accurate analysis and feedback to support Quality Systems (QS) investigations. The ideal candidate is expected to have entry level familiarity with LC-MS/MS method development.


Job Duties:

1. Perform research and evaluation of new and/or existing product manufacturing technology and processes and execute independent research plans as assigned. Identify new product opportunities

and improvements to existing products.

2. Perform experiments and collect data to support products within assigned area. Develop, manufacture, and test new products and/or materials utilizing current analytical methods, techniques

and instrumentation as appropriate. Ensure that products and materials are of sufficient quality and quantity to meet production demand.

3. Document all steps, experiments and/or procedures in the development process as required and write experience reports detailing experimental design, results and conclusions. Review

documentation for accuracy and completeness. Communicate progress on projects through monthly reports and at staff meetings. Develop new product instruction sheets, specifications, and testing

parameters as necessary and circulate for review and comment with the appropriate departments.

4. Transfer new products to manufacturing and monitor performance so that processes, quality, documentation, and training can be evaluated and validated. Train manufacturing personnel on any

new procedures, processes, specifications or testing as required. Work with manufacturing departments to resolve product quality problems or to improve process efficiency, as requested.

5. Answer customer inquiries relating to area of expertise, specifically any call transfers from primary technical service personnel or customer service representatives. Provide customer training as

required.

6. Maintain regular contact with sales & marketing and other departments to obtain input on new products and customer needs. Establish relationships with customers through visits with sales representatives, phone conversations, and specialized product follow-ups.

7. Collaborate cross functionally on project teams as the scientific expert.

8. Prepare written articles and/or generate publishable data for use by the marketing and technical

service areas, and review literature used to market Restek products. Represent Restek at conferences and technical meetings, including preparing and conducting technical presentations.

9. Provide analytical support for PDG, R&D, QS, and Quality Control, when needed.

10. Practice safe working procedures and follow guidelines specified by the Environmental Health and Safety Department, especially when working in production and laboratory areas. Understand the

safe handling of materials and the quality of processes under the domain of the job responsibilities.

11. Participate in continuous learning and education to keep current with industry and grow knowledge and skills in area of work.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

•Associates + 5 years related experience • BS (0 years/entry level) • MS (0 years/entry level)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Basic understanding processes & core responsibilities. Can perform routine applications work & QC tests.
  • Ability to prepare experience reports to document work.
  • Can perform basic troubleshooting & analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of experiment design & structured problem solving. Advanced knowledge of chemical composition, structure, & properties, including uses of chemicals
