Summary

The Residential Team Manager is a member of the residential leadership team and works under the direct supervision of the Program Director of Residential to ensure the safety and well-being of both staff and clients through the provision of evidence-based treatment practices, guidance, support, training, orientation, coaching, delegating, daily programming and actively engaging clients in processes and activities designed to build the skills necessary for effective self-regulation, communication, greater attention, and flexible thinking.

Team and staff development activities includes but is not limited to interviewing, hiring, progressive discipline up to an including termination, staff scheduling, on-call responsibilities, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory and contractual obligations and regulations, and completing all administrative documentation/tasks in a timely manner.

This position demands continued use of independent decision making.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure regulatory and agency compliance is met at all times.
  • Performs all functions of a Treatment Specialist as needed.
  • Assists with fulfilling client intake responsibilities, especially during evening and weekend hours; ensuring that all paperwork is signed and completed accurately and timely.
  • Will work to ensure regulatory and agency compliance with all processes, procedures, expectations.
  • Responsible for the entire scheduling process of Residential Treatment Specialist staff and ensuring shift coverage at or above regulatory staff-to-client ratios.
  • Responsible for completing/reviewing and reporting on daily reports, including but not limited to: AIR’s or restraint reports, , shift reports, residential bed chart updates etc.
  • Responsible for training and developing a high performing team of trauma-informed treatment specialists.
  • Ensures implementation of treatment planning and programming to create a therapeutically sounds, educational, safe and nurturing environment for children, families, and staff.
  • Establishes and provides continual evaluation of work procedures and processes that support Agency and departmental standards, procedures, and strategic directives.
  • Responsible for researching and resolving complaints to ensure client retention and satisfaction.
  • Responsible for hiring, orienting, training, coaching, counseling. and disciplining Treatment Specialist staff.
  • Provides on the job training, mentoring, guidance, and education to the Treatment Specialists including, but not limited to training on documentation requirements and accuracy, Collaborative Problem Solving, customer service, and new process/procedural implementations for the program.
  • Actively participates in the Team Manager’s team and supervision with the Program Director.
  • Manages the dispensation of medication to clients, as needed.
  • Ensure bed assignments are kept updated in Carelogic to ensure property bed check reporting is accurate
  • Ensure bed checks occur every 15 min according to state code and QRTP requirements
  • Ensure laundry is completed nightly
  • Performs on-call duties as assigned.
  • Provides back-up for Team Managers and Treatment Specialists.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise Residential Treatment Specialists, 1st shift Residential Treatment Specialist Leads and Staff.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Two (2) years of managerial experience required plus 3 years of experience working with children, or 3 years of behavioral health experience, or 2 years in a residential treatment setting required. Bachelor’s degree preferred in social services, psychology, or related field preferred. Possess a basic understanding of child development.

Licenses: A valid driver’s license, valid automobile insurance and valid automobile registration is required. Must be insurable by St. Vincent Family Services’ insurance carrier.

Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate client and program-related information effectively through verbal, written and computer. Must also have the ability to communicate with diverse audiences both internal and external to the agency.

Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical skills required.

Technical Skills: Basic computer skills required.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to multi-task and solve complex human relations matters.

Ability to Self-Regulate: Must be able to self-regulate: to manage your emotions and behavior in accordance with the demands of the situation. It includes being able to resist highly emotional reactions to upsetting stimuli, to calm yourself down when you get upset, to adjust to a change in expectations and to handle frustration without an outburst.

Additional Abilities: Must be able to maintain client and staff confidentiality pursuant to HIPAA and agency policy. Must be trustworthy, demonstrate consistency and reliability engender the respect of staff, be self-aware, and demonstrate an interest in your personal and professional development.
