A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LEAD TODDLER - INFANT CHILD CARE TEACHER

As a Lead Toddler - Infant Child Care Teacher, you warmly greet each child and parent as they enter the classroom. You mark attendance, begin a daily report, observe behavior, and record the development of each child. According to developmental progress, you create lesson plans for the children. With care and concern, you are responsive and attentive to the needs of our infants and toddlers. Communicating with parents is a routine part of your day. When parents are present, you are ready and willing to discuss their child's progress or any concerns. While children wait for their parents to pick them up, you ensure they are engaged in an activity and have all their belongings. As you greet parents picking up their children, you share sunshine and daily reports with them.

You are vigilant about the health and safety of each child. If you notice something that poses a health hazard, you report it to your management. The same is true if you see or suspect any child abuse. You keep records of any reported abuse and document any unusual behavior of the infant or toddler. Following the recommendations on the cleaning chart, you ensure the classroom and equipment are properly sanitized and disinfected. You are well-read on the procedures for fire- and weather-related emergencies and the care of an injured or ill child.

You are always aware of, and ready to maintain, the child-to-staff ratio. As you follow the daily schedule for meal and snack time, you are cognizant of children with allergies and aware of our policy regarding bottle feeding. During outside play time, you enforce playground safety measures. You are diligent in following our daycare's policies regarding medication, discipline, diaper changes, and the amount of time a child spends on equipment. Organized and aware, you request needed supplies 7 days in advance. Your classroom has up-to-date decorations and displays of children's artwork. You love being around infants and toddlers and providing them a safe and happy place to learn and grow!
