Job Description
This is an onsite position requirement.

The Technical Support Specialist job involves providing advanced technical assistance, troubleshooting, and support related to operating systems, as well as user support for EMR systems. They are also responsible for maintaining information systems and applications, working with users to properly store, secure, and backup company and patient data in accordance with HIPAA.


The position works with OGHS employees, clinicians, physicians, IT Infrastructure (Tier 3), IT Management, and Senior Leadership Team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides advanced technical assistance, troubleshooting and support related to operating systems.
  • Provides user support on Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Performs network-based PC imaging and patching. Set up new user equipment. Install all desktop software and local/network-based printers.
  • Maintains information systems and applications.
  • Works with users to properly store, secure, and backup company and patient data in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Enrolls company owned mobile devices in Mobile Device Management. Maintains configurations to ensure devices are up-to-date and complies with HIPAA.
  • Creates and updates technical and clinical documentation. Collects information in a more organized way to improve support, processes and communication.
  • Adds and maintains user attributes/groups in Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and Office 365.
  • Analyzes network and system issues. Attempts to resolve or collect additional information before escalating to Tier 3
  • Deploys, service/repair, and updates hardware: PCs, printers, monitors, and handheld devices
  • Performs troubleshooting and resolves VoIP and VPN related problems.
  • Maintains an inventory of IT property and assets.
  • Monitors for suspicious users, applications, and network activity (breaches). Ensures antivirus and endpoint encryption is enabled on all devices. Implements and monitors scheduled scans of PCs.
  • Isolate/sandbox suspicious and rogue devices. Escalate to System and Network Administrators/Engineers to determine root cause and network exposure.
  • Trains users on new and existing technologies and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education: Associates degree in Information Systems or Electrical Engineering required. Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or Electrical Engineering preferred.

Experience: 3 years in Information Technology or 3 years in Desktop Computing, Networking, IT Support

Additional experience preferred:

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ certifications preferred.
  • Networking experience: switching, routing, firewalls, port security and wireless.
  • Monitoring, Security, OS, and Software experience: Windows, MacOS, IBM, iOS, Android, 802.1x, antivirus, EMR, etc.
