Job Description

Job Title: HVAC Technician

Reports To: Assistant Director of Facilities

Status: Full Time, Hourly Staff


General Description

Participate and work in the field as needed to complete Preventative Maintenance work orders including but not limited to changing filters, belts, cleaning fan coil units, repairing and replacing basic components of HVAC systems. Respond to daily work orders and make needed repairs to HVAC systems.

The successful candidate will possess strong multitasking skills and unquestionable integrity, be a good listener, be a team player, and maintain confidentiality for all aspects of the Facilities Department.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Routine servicing and installation of heating, ventilating and cooling and components. Including: compressors, valves, coils, heat pumps, motors, belts, bearings, fans, filters, wiring, and control systems.
  2. Performs routine and emergency repairs to same, as well preventive maintenance.
  3. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctioning systems and components.
  4. Interprets engineering drawings and equipment manuals of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and component parts.
  5. Performs replacement of minor parts/components for HVAC systems.
  6. Sets and maintains equipment-operating schedules.
  7. Provides recommendations regarding systems maintenance and repairs.
  8. Evaluate, maintain and update preventative maintenance tasks and schedules. Ensure all work is completed correctly and in a timely fashion.
  9. Must respond to emergency work and projects as needed including off hours and weekends.
  10. Performs related duties as assigned.
  11. Works with the snow shoveling crew during snow events.

Requirements

  1. Trade or vocational school graduate, successful completion of apprenticeship, or applicable experience.
  2. Minimum of two years’ experience in related HVAC work.
  3. Ability to work indoors in cramped, crowded spaces, usually not air conditioned.
  4. Ability to work outside in all kinds of weather, at ground level and on roofs.
  5. Ability to lift, carry, push and pull a variety of tools, equipment and material.
  6. Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch to gain access to pipes, wiring and equipment.
  7. Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools.
  8. Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background check.

Hours:

Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm.

Weekend and Overtime as deemed necessary.

Must work all Major College Events that fall on weekends/holidays
